Report of 2010 Lions Service of Thanksgiving
While the Lions flag fluttered from the tower flagpole, District Governor Lion Colin, headed the 105W Lions family Thanksgiving Service at Brecon Cathedral on Sunday 10 October 2010. Organised by Brecon Lions Club, the service was attended by the Mayor of Brecon, Councillor David Meredith and dignitaries from around the District. The 160 strong congregation was led by the Dean of Brecon Cathedral, the Very Reverend Geoffrey Marshall in the presence of His Worship, The Very Reverend John Davies, Bishop of Brecon and Swansea. A reading by Brecon Club President Lion Roy Parry, an Anthem by the Cathedral Choir and music by the twenty four members of the Aberhonddu Male Voice Choir produced an afternoon of dedication to the work of Lion members, 'caring people caring'. Second Vice District Governor Lion Harry Smith read the necrology to the nine members passed to higher service since the service in Devizes last year. First Vice District Governor Lion Larry Pearce concluded the service with Wesley's Exhortation. Afternoon tea was served in the adjacent Diocesan Centre.
