Pakistan Appeal October 2005

LCIF Pakistan Earthquake appeal

So soon after the tsunami in South East Asia , then hurricane Katrina we have yet another major natural disaster.  This time a powerful earthquake has wrecked havoc on the border region of Pakistan and India , near Kashmir .

LCIF has issued a major catastrophe grant of US$200,000 to assist with both short and long term needs.  LCIF has also issued three US$10,000 emergency grants so that Lions in the affected areas can quickly help people get food, water and medicine.  Lions around the world are now pledging their support to LCIF in its efforts to bring some relief to those suffering.  Lions of District 105W have a proud tradition of supporting LCIF when these tragic events take place, therefore once again I ask for your support by contributing funds to the LCIF Earthquake Relief Fund.

Contributions can be made through our District Treasurer.  Cheques should be made out to “Lions Clubs International District 105W and endorsed Pakistan Earthquake Relief.

A committee has been put in place chaired by Past International Director Nilofer Bakhtiar.  This committee will assess the needs in the area and help direct Lions relief efforts.

I thank you in anticipation of your support.

District Governor Lion Jim Hamilton.
